Pattern the Form

Ancient people who practiced the natural way did not use it to illuminate other people.
Instead, they took in hand their simple state.
Because people are difficult to govern when they become too clever.
That is why those who use cleverness to rule the country are a detriment to the country.
And not-using cleverness to rule the country is a blessing to the country.
Whoever knows these two things also patterns the form.
And always knowing to pattern the form is called hidden virtue.
Hidden virtue goes deep and far!
It allows all things to return!
And thus obtain great harmony.
