Through This
Translation by Tree Buffalo
Well-rooted things cannot be pulled up.
Well-grasped things cannot be taken away.
This is why children and grandchildren continue to sacrifice without end.
They cultivate it through the self, which makes their virtue genuine.
They cultivate it through the family, which makes their virtue overflow.
They cultivate it through the village, which makes their virtue last.
They cultivate it through the country, which makes their virtue abundant.
They cultivate it through the world, which makes their virtue universal.
Therefore, through the person view the person.
Through the family view the family.
Through the village view the village.
Through the country view the country.
And through the world view the world.
Through what do I know the world is so?
Through this.
