Ancient People’s Perfection
Translation by Tree Buffalo
Good action does not make warriors warlike.
Good fighting does not make them angry.
Good defeating-of-the-enemy does not engage them.
Good use of the people comes from below them.
I call this the virtue of not quarreling.
I call this putting people to good use.
I call this pairing with the world: ancient people’s perfection.
